Hello Inner Circle,

The first month of the new year is behind us.

It’s a troubling time in Minnesota, and in this country, and in the world. It’s cold, and ICE has the community fucked up. Reality is heavy. I encourage you to use your rage as fuel, don’t let it drain you. Be intentional and strategic. Liberation is on the agenda.

If you don’t know your neighbor, work on changing that ASAP. Community is going to matter more and more. Make sure you’re engaged, plugged in, and paying attention. Find a way to support collective liberation within your capacity.

This fight isn’t a moment, it’s a continuation. Find your lane. Pace yourself. Make sure your efforts are meaningful, sustainable, and rooted in liberation.

I’ve been working hard putting the pieces of the Itz Personal puzzle together. Being a part of the Finnovation Fellowship has been an incredible resource so far. I’m developing my leadership skills and continuing to refine the business plan. I am building my network with intention and it’s been fun getting to know community. If you know somebody I should meet, please introduce me!

I haven’t been posting much but I’ve been working on finding my voice. You can read more about that here.

Going forward, I will send out a newsletter every month with updates, education, insights, and community highlights. I hope this newsletter keeps you informed and engaged with the mission of Itz Personal. Together, we will ensure repair happens.

Thanks for being part of the Inner Circle, and for your continued support and engagement. We are building a path toward liberation!

PS. I’m considering hosting events!! Let me know what you’d like to see at an Itz Personal event. I love when you share your thoughts with me!

Knowledge changes power dynamics. By uncovering the truth behind decades of targeted enforcement, we dismantle the myths used to justify criminalization and replace them with a roadmap for restorative justice. Together, we use this education to make informed choices that advance racial equity, build opportunity, and empower our collective voice to ensure the future of cannabis is equitable.

5 Key Takeaways about Cannabis Criminalization:

Referenced Resources:

[1] ACLU: A Tale of Two Countries (2020) The definitive report on racial arrest ratios in both legal and prohibition states.

[2] Pew Research: Drug Arrests Stayed High (2022) An analysis of why drug possession arrests remained a high priority for police even as other crime rates fell.

[3] The Sentencing Project: One in Five (2024) A deep dive into how mass incarceration and drug enforcement deepen racial and economic inequality.

[4] FBI: Crime Data Explorer (UCR) The official government database for annual arrest statistics categorized by race and offense type.

[5] NORML: Racial Disparity Fact Sheet (2024) A comprehensive fact sheet featuring state-level data and recent Department of Justice findings on racial bias.

Somewhere along the way, I fell into the trap of thinking I needed to create for an audience instead of creating for myself. But authenticity isn’t a risk - it’s the asset. If I can’t be real, I’d rather not be seen at all. Read my commitment to authenticity while building in an industry not designed for me to win here.

This year we will see more dispensaries opening their doors! It’s an exciting time for the cannabis community but we cannot let the hype of legalization cloud the need for restoration.
